Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you’ll spend significant time behind the chair performing hair services, refining your cutting, colouring, and styling techniques while building confidence in a real salon environment.

Course Overview
Trillium College’s Hairstyling Diploma Program prepares you to step confidently into the beauty industry with the creativity, technical skill, and real-world experience today’s salons are looking for. The program combines online learning with hands-on training in our on-campus student salon, giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge while building serious skills behind the chair.
For stylists, the chair isn’t just a seat—it’s where creativity, confidence, and transformation happen.
You’ll learn the foundations of professional hairstyling, including cutting, styling, colouring, chemical services, hair additions, and salon operations. As you progress, you’ll refine your techniques through extensive practice on both mannequins and real clients, gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced salon environment while working under the guidance of experienced instructors.
Beyond technical training, you’ll also explore the business side of the industry. From building client relationships and understanding salon operations to developing entrepreneurial skills, you’ll learn how to grow your career in a competitive and creative field. You’ll also earn industry-recognized certifications in safety, sanitation, and professional client care.
Graduates may pursue opportunities working in salons, building their own clientele, launching a business, or exploring creative work in fashion, film, and media. Admission Requirements

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma
- Students can complete the grade 12 or equivalent while in the hairstyling program, however, the diploma or equivalent must be obtained prior to seeking acceptance as an apprentice.*
